It was another fantastic evening
of competitive action at Shrewsbury College for the final week of tbis season.
Going in to the final week both WBS and Six Offenders had the opportunity to
become champions.
In the opening match of the evening last season’s
champions SVR secured a convincing 5-0 victory over Shrewsbury Sixes. There
were numerous great performances from SVR but a stunning hatrick from man of
the match Jack Pengilly grabbed the headlines as he helped steer his side to
victory over a much changed Sixes side.
In the second match of the evening, table toppers
Six Offenders knew a victory would secure them top spot in the Premier League.
Offenders wasted no time in stamping their authority and racked up numerous
goals on their way to an 11-0 victory over Barely Athletic. Barely fought to
the end but were no match for the new champions with Ben Allen bagging himself
a brace that secured him the league’s golden boot award.
In the evening’s final game WBS took on Football
team knowing that only an astronomical goal difference swing would secure them
the championship. In an entertaining game, goals from Jake, Lewis and Leo
secured WBS a well-earned victory but it ultimately wasn’t enough to overhaul
free scoring Six Offenders who took the title on goal difference. Football Team
secured a consolation goal though Sam Jervis.
Overall, another superb week and season of football
action here at Shrewsbury. The new season next week will see our league expand
into a second division as we welcome new sides: Crawlers FC, West Shropshire FC,
Ternhill Rangers and TF1. We wish them all luck for the new season. We are on
the lookout for 2 additional teams to join our divisions as well as single
players to join our league. Interested in getting in on the action? Click here to visit our website our contact Area
