The third week of the Shrewsbury Monday 6-a-side
Football league saw some fantastic action as new teams, Six Offenders and WBS
FC began their league campaigns.
In a night pulsating with energy and adrenaline,
Barely Athletic were the night's big winners, securing an emphatic 6-1 victory
over Shrewsbury Sixes. Jack Davies was the star of the evening, netting 4 goals
for Barely Athletic and securing his spot as the top scorer in the Premier
League division. Shrewsbury Sixes played well and were in the game for long
periods however faded towards the end allowing their opponents to add to their
goal tally late on.
In the night's second match, an extremely competitive battle took place between
league leaders SVR and newcomers WBS FC. With both sets of players knowing each
other and WBS player Lewis-Duckett (The Shrewsbury Sol Campbell) having ditched
his SVR teammates to join WBS, the game took the form of a grudge match. Both sets of players fought for every ball, not giving an inch, in what was a real cagey affair. SVR eventually edged the game 2-1 to
continue their fine form with a strong team performance.
Another riveting match-up saw new boys the Six Offenders clinch a decisive 5-2 victory
against Football Team. Ben and his side adapted well to their new surroundings with a display of clinical finishing against a energetic Football Team side who fought hard throughout the game.
Overall, another terrific night of action at Shrewsbury College and as we gear up for the final weeks of this season, one thing is certain - The
Shrewsbury Monday Football League is delivering a spectacle of football, and we
wouldn't want to miss a second of it.
