The Premier League thrills at Shrewsbury Monday
Night Football continued last night as we saw the teams lock horns for the second round of the season.
In the evening’s first match, Six Offenders claimed top spot in the league with
an impressive 2-1 victory over current champions SVR. In a closely fought
match, the former just managed to gain the edge with well taken goals from Sean
Gray and Sean Adams. SVR remain winless despite a fine goal from captain Alex and two decent performances in
their first two games.
In the night’s second match, WBS cemented their
place as league challengers with a fine 5-1 victory over Shrewsbury Sixes.
Sixes took the lead with an excellent header but were pegged back by WBS
shortly afterwards. Despite an even contest for much of the game, WBS
eventually managed to grab a second goal and a flurry of further goals swiftly
followed. Josh Lewis-Duckett stood out, netting a hat-trick and boosting his
stats, emerging as the top scorer in the Premier League for this week. His
attacking prowess coupled with his accuracy in front of the goal made him a constant
threat throughout.
In the evening's final match, Barely Athletic went
head to head with Football Team. The tension was palpable as both teams
battled it out to a 1-1 draw in an end-to-end contest. Barely Athletic's star
player Jake Holloway shone brightest, securing most valuable player for this
week but ultimately his side had to settle for a share of the points.
Overall, another fantastic evening of football entertainment with the league standings now beginning to take shape. We look forward now to seeing what next week’s matches have to offer.
