Week 2 of the Shrewsbury Monday Football League brought a thrilling display of skill and competition on the pitch, with teams from both the Premier League and Division 1 battling it out for supremacy.
In the Premier League division, Barely Athletic clinched a narrow victory over SVR in an intense face-off, ending the match with a scoreline of 3-2. The Six Offenders triumphed over WBS FC with a 3-1 win in another eye-catching display of football prowess. Offenders lead the way in the Premier division alongside new boys - Back of the Neto after round 2 as they look to defend their league title.
Division 1 proved to be just as action packed, with TERNHILL RANGERS dominating Crawlers FC with an impressive 5-1 win. The star of the match was Adam O'Neil from TERNHILL RANGERS, who netted a total of 4 goals in a dominant display to become the top scorer of the division.
The Other Team continued their impressive form as they steamrolled West Shropshire FC in an emphatic 5-0 victory. A clinical hatrick from Matt Jones paved the way for their victory however the match could have been much closer had it not been for goalkeeper Don (The Don) who put in an assured display to thwart Shropshire on several occasions. In the evening's final match, new boys Tonys Tigers handed a heavy 5-0 defeat to FC Shrewbacca with an all round grrrrreat performance. Striker Joel bagged himself a brace as the Tigers roared into action on the first outing at the league.
The second week of the Shrewsbury Monday Football League has set a high bar for the weeks to come. With commendable performances from every team, the league is gearing up to be an exciting season of football.
