The Shrewsbury Monday Football league kicked off its new season with a bang last night, as teams from across the Premier League and Division 1 competed in a thrilling display of football prowess.
Conversely, the game between SVR and FC BACK OF THE NETO was a very different affair. In a free-flowing match, newboys Neto triumphed in a 4-2 victory with a standout performance by league's top scorer, Luke, who found the net twice. They will hope to keep up their good start going into next week's match.
Meanwhile, in Division 1, spectators were treated to an array of exciting fixtures. The clash between West Shropshire FC and Crawlers FC was an absolute barnstormer, with West Shropshire narrowly securing a 4-3 victory as both teams piled forward in search of goals. The star of the match was Jerry, whose impressive hat-trick for West Shropshire made him the top scorer of the Division.
The match between TERNHILL RANGERS and Football Team ended 3-1 in favour of the Rangers. Ternhill showcased terrific organisation and teamwork with captain Nathan impressing in an all-action display.
In the evening's final match, The Other Team and FC Shrewbacca played out an entertaining 2-2 draw. In the battle of 2 sides made up of individual player sign-ups, both sides fought valiantly to secure a point for their side. It was fantastic to see 2 new groups of friends brought together by playing football.
