Title Races Hot Up At Shrewsbury College 6-a-side

Play in the Shrewsbury Monday football league powered by Leisure Leagues.

In what was an electrifying week in the Shrewsbury Monday 6 a side Football League,  teams from the Premier League and Division 1 divisions battled it out on the pitch.

The Premier League division saw a nail-biting face-off as FC BACK OF THE NETO narrowly edged Barely Athletic in a 4-3 thriller to remain top of the league. A fantastic display of goal scoring from Neto's Sam proved to be the difference as both sides attacked relentlessly in an end to end classic.

In the evening's second match, current champs Six Offenders maintained their position joint top of the table with a narrow victory over resurgent SVR. Goals from Jesse, Jack H and Ben gave their side the win despite excellent goals from Alex and Issac of SVR.

In the final match of the evening, WBS FC managed to secure an important 6-1 victory over Up The Falcons, demonstrating their impressive offensive prowess. The victory helped edge them further way from the relegation places as they proved too strong for their newcomer opponents. Man of the match Tom Edwards stood out, bagging himself an impressive hatrick. Check out his fantastic solo effort on our Instagram page.  A massive shout out goes to their opponents Up The Falcons on their first appearance at the league. They battled well throughout but struggled with match fitness towards the end.

Over in Division 1, Tony's Tigers roared their way to a 4-1 triumph against Golden Boots, fueled by the exceptional play of Joel Brown who bagged himself a brace. The Tigers were keen to get back on track following a set back against Shrewbacca last week and put in an all round assured performance.

FC Shrewbacca kept up their recent strong form with a clinical 3-0 win against new side Passion FC. A terrific team performance led by the impressive but equally mysterious, Messi-like figure in the blue bobble hat, secured the Bacca boys a third straight victory that sees them close in on the promotion places. The Passionfruits displayed plenty of....raw passion but ultimately struggled to finish their chances leaving them win less on their league debut.

In the evening's final game, league leaders TERNHILL RANGERS outclassed The Other Team with a solid 6-1 victory. Following a close first half, the Ternminators came out strong in the second with a flurry of well-taken goals including a brace from Adam O'Neill. The Other Team's terrific run of form came to an end despite a great goal from Ryan but they remaining firmly in the promotion mix.

As we look back on another fantastic week of action at our Monday night Shrewsbury league we now move our attention to the next week of fixtures. With only 4 games left, the battle for promotion and relegation is truly hotting up.
