It was a good evening's football in the Worcester Monday 6 a side league this week with all 24 teams in attendance for their matches throughout the night across all three divisions, and some fantastic football played.
We saw a new team join the ranks in Division One this week as Texas Oldham made their league debuts, they had a tough opener against a well drilled Pickle Pinchers side who ran out 6-0 winners in the end. The new boys will doubtless improve as they play more matches though.
In the Premier Division, What Team Name claimed their second 5-3 victory in a row this week as they won an entertaining encounter over Woodgreen, their games always promise goals as is being demonstrated again. Chateuneuf Du-Pape were 2-0 winners in their match against Greyhound to follow up their draw last week, whilst champions Phoenix got back to winning ways after opening day defeat, they were dominant 5-1 winners in their match against General Sports Enthusiasts. Another game littered with goals was the ten goal thriller in which Clash of Dudes ran out 7-3 winners against Sporting A Beergut.
In Division One, new boys Class on Artificial Grass's excellent start to life in the league continued, their second win on the spin came this week in the form of a 5-1 hammering of Inter Ya Nan. Salty Sea-Men dropped a place to third as they shared a point apiece in a thrilling 4-4 draw with Crouch Potato. Elsewhere, Visionary FC completed the action in the division, following up last weeks heavy defeat with a hefty win, as they were 7-2 victors against Unathletico Madrid.
In Division Two, Malvern Massive claimed their second win of the season as they edged past Full Kit Yankers by 2 goals to 1, as did Daddy Ben who were 2-0 victors over Monner Athletic. Plunger and Superglue followed up their draw last week with a 9-1 demolition of Night Shift, whilst the action was completed by by Indra who got their first points of the season on board by beating Chunk and the 7 Dwarves 4-2.
We thank all of our teams for their continued commitment and reliability towards the league which ensures we run smoothly on a weekly basis, and wish all teams good luck heading into game week 3 with Worcester's premier providers of small sided football.
