It was another good evening's football in the Worcester Monday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance across all three divisions throughout the night and plenty of goals scored in an entertaining evening of action!
There is a new leader in the Premier Division this week as Phoenix won the battle of the top two running out 5-3 winners over Shamgwop Rovers in a thrilling game as they take pole position at a vital stage of the season! Third placed Tics on Toure are now well out of the title race after suffering a shock 11-1 loss to seventh placed Chateuneuf Du Pape who are right back in with a chance of survival after losing only one of their last five matches! Woodgreen FC won the mid-table battle as they ran out 4-3 winners over Gateshead FC to leapfrog them into fourth in the table.
There were no surprises in the top v bottom game in Division One this week as Rodallega Bombs made short work of Route One Rovers who they thrashed by 11 goals to 1. Second placed Greyhound FC have one foot in the Premier Division after beating third placed Goals Aloud 6-1 to move three points clear with only four to play for going into the penultimate matches. Elsewhere, Who Ate All Depays now sit in fourth place and almost consigned Bendtner Over to relegation after winning 3-0 against them, that result coupled with Inter Yanan's 3-2 win over ABCDE FC means relegation is almost certain for the seventh placed team.
It was a close night of action in Division Two as all winners did so by only a single goal. General Sports Enthusiasts were 3-2 winners for the second game in a row as they overcame third placed Rybrook Raiders, who may have lost the chance of promotion this term as second placed Hayley's Beanie Boys drew 2-2 with Plunger & Superglue, moving them three points clear of third with only four to play for. Other action saw Malvern Massive recover from last weeks 3-2 defeat with a 3-2 win over Salty Sea-Men, whilst Balt-J FC also recovered from last weeks 5-4 reverse to win by the same scoreline this week, overcoming fourth placed Nomers!
We thank all teams for their continued commitment and reliability and look forward to seeing all in attendance for the penultimate round of the current season's fixtures on Monday 23rd May with Worcester's premier providers of small sided football!
