It was another fantastic evening's football in the Worcester Monday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance for their matches as scheduled and some well competed games played throughout the night.
The Premier Division remains unchanged at the top, although third placed Phoenix lost ground on the teams above them as they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat against leaders Chateuneuf Du-Pape who moved four points clear of them, whilst second placed Sporting a Beergut move three clear of them after they were 4-1 winners over now fifth placed Greyhound. Clash of Dudes moved up a place to fourth as they were 5-2 winners over bottom placed Woodgreen FC, whilst game of the night in the division was the 13 goal thriller in which General Sports Enthusiasts ran out 8-5 winners against What Team Name.
Division One leaders Pickle Pinchers put daylight between themselves and second places Class on Artificial Grass this week as the top two met, the leaders running out 5-2 winners and moving four point clear of their rivals, keeping up their 100% record in the process. Texas Oldham remain third but are now level on points with second place after their 5-1 victory against Unathletico Madrid gave them their fifth win in a row, giving them an Inner Smile in recent weeks. The other two games were 5 goal thrillers which yielded 3-2 wins for promotion hopefuls Salty Sea-Men and Visionary FC who climb to sixth, as they beat Inter Ya Nan and Crouch Potato respectively.
Division Two leaders Daddy Ben may be having a mini blip by their standards, defeat last week followed by a 2-2 draw with third placed Plunger and Superglue this week, however they've done enough in previous weeks to remain top. Monner Athletic moved into second on the back of that result and their 3-1 win over Indra as their promotion push gathers pace. Chunk and the Seven Dwarves and Full Kit Yankers weren't messing around this week as both thrashed their opponents 7-1 to remain in mid-table, triumphing against Malvern Massive ans Night Shift respectively as promotion may not yet be off the cards for either!
We thank all teams for their continued reliability and commitment to the league and wish all good luck going into the next round of fixtures with Worcester's premier providers of small sided football.
