It was a good evening's football in the Worcester Monday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance for their matches throughout the night as scheduled across all three divisions and some excellent matches played with plenty of goals!
Phoenix sealed the title in the Premier Division with a game to spare as they threw up few shocks by hammering bottom of the table Crouch Potato 8-1. That result coupled with a shock 6-5 defeat for Shamgwop Rovers against Woodgreen FC in a thrilling game, was enough to confirm things a week early.
Tics on Toure are back with a shout of second place as they recovered from last weeks 11-1 embarrassment to demolish Route One Rovers by an 11-3 scoreline this week! They face up against Shamgwop Rovers in the final game of the season in what promises to be an exciting game. Gateshead United and Chateuneuf Du-Pape completed the action in the top tier as they shared the spoils in an end to end 3-3 draw, a result which could be enough to see Chat Du-Pape survive as they climbed out of the drop zone on goal difference.
It is all sewn up in Division One now as Rodallega Bombs were 3-1 winners over Who Ate All Depays in a routine performance to seal the title, whilst second placed Greyhound FC got the win they needed to confirm second place, in the form of an 8-3 thriller against Bendtner Over who will be in Division Two next season. Bottom of the table We Lose Evra Week were 4-3 winners over ABCDE FC as they play without pressure after being already relegated. Whilst game of the night in the division was undoubtedly the 6-6 draw played out between Inter Ya Nan and Goals Aloud.
Division Two Champions elect General Sports Enthusiasts suffered a shock this week as their unbeaten campaign came to an abrupt end at the penultimate hurdle, as Salty Sea-Men secured an impressive 3-1 win over the leaders. Hayley Beanie Boys would need a major collapse in the final week after they drew 1-1 with Malvern Massive, but have a far superior goal difference worth an extra point over third placed Rybrook Raiders, who themselves got a 2-0 win against Nomers. Plunger and Superglue moved into fourth spot as they were 4-0 winners against Balt-J FC as they look to finish as high as possible.
We wish all teams good luck going into the final game of the league season next week, as we look ahead to the next season which will get underway on Monday 7th June!
