It was another fantastic evening's football in the Worcester Sixways Monday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance for their matches as scheduled and some well competed games played throughout the night. The only exception to this was Inter Ya Nan who had late dropouts due to personal circumstances, but they return as normal on Monday 3rd April.
The top v bottom clash in the Premier Division threw up little in the way of surprise in terms of the result, however it was a closely competed encounter, with Chateuneuf Du-Pape eventually running out 2-0 winners over Woodgreen. That result allowed the top team to extend their lead at the top to two points, as second placed Sporting A Beergut had to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw with General Sports Enthusiasts. Phoenix brought themselves back into the mix with a 7-3 win against Greyhound. What Team Name completed the divisions action and did their survival hopes the world of good as they were 5-2 winners against fourth placed Clash of Dudes as the table looks to have split into two.
In Division One the leaders Pickle Pinchers claimed a 5-0 walkover so keep their place at the summit. Class on Artificial Grass remain second and got another impressive win this week, seeing off Visionary FC by 6 goals to 2, whilst points have been In Demand in recent weeks for Texas Oldham but they had to settle for one this week as they were held to a 1-1 draw by immediate rivals Salty Sea-Men. Crouch Potato put a 2 point gap between themselves and the drop zone as they rounded off the action with a 2-0 win over bottom side Unathletico Madrid.
Division Two leaders Daddy Ben arrested a mini blip in form this week and got back to winning ways after 2 without a win previously, they had to work hard for the points though as bottom side Night Shift gave a superb account of themselves, 2-0 the final score. Monner Athletic keep the pressure on their rivals and were 5-2 winners against Full Kit Yankers, whilst Chunk and the Seven Dwarves now occupy third place, at the expense of Plunger and Superglue who they cruised past by 4 goals to 1 this week. Malvern Massive and Indra completed the action for the week in a seven goal epic, in which Malvern managed to land the lethal blow and run out 4-3 winners.
We thank all teams for their continued reliability and commitment to the league and wish all good luck going into the next round of fixtures with Worcester's premier providers of small sided football.
