It was a good evening's football in the Worcester Monday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance following the Bank Holiday break and some superb matches played across all three divisions.
Phoenix missed the opportunity to go level on points with leaders Tics on Toure in the Premier Division this week, as they were unable to capitalise on the top teams 5-5 draw with Greyhound FC, the second placed team suffering a 4-3 defeat to Sporting a Beergut. However, the top two meet in a crunch encounter next week, which will be a double header after their game earlier in the season was abandoned due to a player injury, meaning this could literally be a title decider.
Division One leaders Billy Timbers got their seventh win on the spin this week as they edged past Goals Aloud in a five goal thriller, 3-2 the final score, whilst General Sports Enthusiasts leapfrogged Route One Rovers into second place at a crucial point of the season, after beating them by a convincing 6-1 scoreline. Three teams are separated by a point in what promises to be an exciting final two weeks of the season.
Nomers and Salty Sea-Men continue to dominate Division Two as both lead the way on a whopping 23 points, Nomers superior goal difference worth an additional point though, they were 4-2 winners over Rybrook this week, whilst Sea-Men won by the same scoreline against Malvern Massive. The two meet next week in another title decider as both had promotion in the bag a long time ago.
