It was a good evening's football this week in the Worcester Sixways Monday 6 a side league, with all teams in attendance throughout the night as scheduled following the Bank Holiday Monday break!
Shamgwop Rovers and Phoenix continue to fight it out at the top of the Premier Division as both remain locked on 18 points with just three to play. Shamgwop were 7-3 winners against Route One Rovers whilst Phoenix effectively ended Tics on Toure's faint title ambitions as they ran out 3-1 winners over them this week. All eyes will be on the game on Monday 16th May as both meet in a crucial potential title decider!
Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Gateshead United moved into fourth place as they were 4-2 winners over Crouch Potato, whilst Woodgreen and Chateuneuf Du Pape shared the spoils in an entertaining 3-3 draw.
It remains all to play for as far as promotion places go in Division One. Whilst Rodallega Bombs effectively booked their place in the Premier Division next season by beating second placed Greyhound 4-3, the second spot is very much up for grabs as ABCDE FC put themselves in contention for a late promotion dash, running out 5-2 winners over third placed Goals Aloud, meaning three teams are separated by just two points! Who Ate All Depays drop to fifth after a 2-1 reverse against Inter Ya Nan, meaning they realistically probably have too much to do to trouble the promotion places this term. Completing the Division One action was We Lose Evra Week who grabbed their first win of the campaign in style, as they romped to a 7-1 win over second bottom Bendtner Over!
General Sports Enthusiasts finally confirmed what we knew was coming for a while this week, as their 3-2 win over Malvern Massive confirms them as Division Two champions with three games to spare, that their tenth win in eleven games. Second placed Hayley Beanie Boys are a little less comfortable after their 6-3 defeat to Nomers this week, although it could've been worse as third placed Rybrook Raiders could only manage a 2-2 draw against Plunger & Superglue in response, leaving them two points off second. The battle of the bottom two was probably the most entertaining game of the night as Salty Sea-Men ran out 5-4 winners over Balt-J FC in a superb match!
We thank all teams for their continued commitment and reliability to the league and wish all teams good luck going into game week 12 with Worcester's premier small sided football providers!
