It was another fantastic evening's football in the Worcester Sixways Wednesday 6 a side league this week, with all 24 teams in attendance for their scheduled matches and some entertaining football on display across all three divisions as usual.
In the Premier Division, league leaders El Nino were brought down to earth in spectacular fashion, as their 100% record came to an end emphatically, as fifth placed Wednesday Social romped to a 6-0 win. Priestlane Wanderers were in scintillating form in front of goal and now move to within 2 points of the leaders as they thrashed current champions The Rifes by a 12-0 score-line. Brap also moved into within two points of the leaders as they sit in third place with a 5-1 win over Expecting Toulouse, so the title race is very much reopened. Droitwich Sparta completed the divisions action and moved off the bottom with a 5-0 win against Ballas Atletico.
Division One leaders Sporting a Beergut followed up last weeks defeat with a 4-0 thrashing of Sixual Deviants to keep their lead of 2 points at the summit. FC Marshelona keep the pressure up though as they were 2-0 winners against Get Your Klopp Out who remain in mid-table. Third placed Barcaloners remain the best of the rest so far this season as they move to 10 points following a 3-0 triumph against Lads on Toure, whilst Make 6 a Side Great Again moved out of the drop zone at the expense of this weeks opponents Shaggers, who they beat 2-0.
Division Three remains unbelievably tight as a staggering 6 teams are separated by just 2 points. Warriors Staff now have the lead in the league as they edged past Bishy FC by a single goal, whilst Cheeky Naldos drop from top to fourth following a 5-0 humbling at the hands of Mad For It who move to third. Sandwiched between them are Cheese Gromit in second place, after they played out a goalless draw with 2 Girls 1 Schlupp. Finally Bundalengerz may sit third from bottom, but they are just 2 points off the top as they were 2-0 winners over bottom of the table Largentina.
We are delighted to see the league running so smoothly at present, and we thank all teams for their continued commitment and reliability to ensure this is the case.
We wish all teams good luck going into week 9 of the season with Worcester's premier providers of small sided football!
