It was a fantastic evening's football in the Worcester Wednesday 6 a side league this week with all teams in attendance for their matches across the three divisions and some superb football played!
We were delighted to see new team Nag Shuts FC join the league this week, they came over from our less established neighbours across the road and went into Division Two, picking up a superb 3-2 victory over Sporting Bad Haircuts. Welcome to the league lads!
Small Pond continue to crush it in the Premier Division as they recorded a 3-1 win over third placed Coral FC, denting their opponents title hopes significantly as they continue to have their eyes on the title. Second placed Chicken Ball remain in touching distance though as it looks like we are heading for a two horse race, they were comfortable 5-0 winners over Up The Alma. Sporting a Beergut lead the 'best of the rest' in the league as they stay fourth following their 4-2 win over Wednesday Social, whilst Dales Sixes moved further from the drop zone as they won 3-0 against strugglers Murder on Zidane's Floor.
Division One leaders Claines FC suffered a shock this week as new side ITL United on only their third week in the league claimed an impressive 3-2 victory over the top team, although second placed Expecting Toulouse missed the chance to go top as they lost by the same scoreline against New Inn FC. Real Perry's may have joined the league late but they have aspirations of upsetting the top two, and they moved a step closer as they won 2-1 over Lads on Toure to move within two points of second! Werder Beermen completed a night of close games in the division as they were also 2-1 victors against Paris Ganja Man to move out of the drop zone at the expense of their opponents.
Brap FC are another side not messing around this campaign, as they also have a perfect record in the Division Two table, their eighth win on the bounce a 4-1 triumph over the now bottom Ruud Van Nipplejoy in a game that threw up few surprises. Gotta Die for 3 Pints remain second but lost ground on the leaders as they were humbled 5-2 by West Ham Sandwich, third placed Enter Team Name FC were unable to take advantage of this following their 7-4 thrashing by Jew-Ventus.
We thank all teams for their continued commitment and reliability towards the league, and wish all good luck going into game week 9 with Worcester's premier small sided football providers!
