It was a good evening's football in the Worcester Wednesday 6 a side league at Sixways this week, with all teams in attendance for their matches as scheduled barring Dales Sixes who have confirmed their return on Wednesday 15th February as normal.
There was a huge result in the Premier Division title race this week as as Small Pond's resolve was broken for the first time and they were unable to make it a perfect ten, they were beaten 1-0 by relegation threatened Up The Alma in a shock result which puts their opposition outside the drop zone! Chicken Ball have stayed with the leaders all season, ready to pounce on any slip, and they have now done so as a 2-1 victory over Sporting a Beergut put them top of the pile! The top two meet on 22nd February in what will surely be a title decider if form is anything to go by.
Murder on Zidane's Floor picked up their first point of the campaign as they drew 2-2 with Wednesday Social who drop into the bottom two. A couple of wins for the bottom two could bring them back into the survival hunt, although unlikely at this stage.
The top four teams in Division One are separated by a cigarette paper as only two points is the difference between the lot, this after the top two teams dropped points. Leaders Expecting Toulouse were beaten 3-2 by fourth placed Lads on Toure who are right back in the promotion race, whilst Claines FC were held to a 3-3 draw by Paris Ganja Man who move up to fifth as the bottom of the table is even closer than the top! Third placed New Inn keep their hand in the promotion hunt after a comfortable 3-0 victory over ITL United, whilst Werder Beermen claimed a 4-0 win over new boys Bley You Off The Park.
On to Division Two where there isn't much stopping Brap FC, a minor blip in the road last week where they had to settle for a draw was quickly erased this week as they got their ninth win in ten, putting Nag Shuts to the sword by 4 goals to 1 as their place in Division One next season looks to be booked in. The second promotion place is all to play for though and both contenders met this week and were unable to be separated, Enter Team Name and 3 Pints ended up drawing 3-3 meaning they remain separated by a solitary point. Jew-Ventus looked in good form this week as they were 4-2 winners over Ruud Van Nipplejoy, but they still dropped a place to sixth as Sporting Bad Haircuts 5-1 win against West Ham Sandwich moved them into fifth on goal difference.
