Skyline Sports Centre was a buzz last night as we launched a brand new Monday night season of 6 a side football in Bury St Edmunds. The league is full and nearly all our teams were in attendance for the launch of what will hopefully be another exciting campaign. Early running's were made in the top flight by new side Ribena ML who took to Leisure Leagues life like ducks to water, cruising to a 7 - 0 win on the opening night against MoLeicester City, Harvey Norman starting on fire with an early season hattrick to send the new boys straight to the top of the table. Also winning well were defending champions Titus Shambles who's 5 - 1 win over ACALittleSilouetteoOfMilan was thanks to two goals each for Ryan Golding and Matty to kick off their title defence in style. Two other new teams faced off in the opening games of the season as Snorting Lisbon got past Jewventus 4 - 2 in a cracking game that shows how competitive the premier league could be this season.
Division One also started well with Candyshop looking to put the disappointment of last season behind them early on, they started with a points win because SYM FC were away and this see's them top, just ahead of Innocent Till Proven Gylfi who's 3 - 1 win over Charlesberg was thanks to goals from Dan Moore, Will and Joel. Double Pogba also won their season opener against Maradonna Kebab 2 - 0, Miles Turner and Wayne Procter both opening their accounts for the season.
Struijk My Koch lead Division Two with a solid 4 - 0 win of Son Of A Pitches, Tom Pope getting up and running with a hattrick and For the Badge got the better of Hello You Kante in a tight game that was settled by goals from Hari Sharma and Alfie Gamble, Luke Rookyard was on target for Kante but they went down 2 - 1 in a brilliant match. Equally entertaining was the 2 - 2 draw between Mean Machine and Harrys Helmuts, tight from the word go and both teams gave it everything to win but in the end Todd Barker and Jim Barty's goals were matched by Lewis and Kai and both sides had to settle for a point.
Big thanks to Brian and his team for managing the night, just a reminder that we are OFF next week for the August Bank Holiday, returning on Monday 5th September.
Although the league is currently full it's still a great time to register a new team so if you have mates looking to get involved please remind them it's £1 to enter in August and when you get a place in the league, your 1st game will be on us so register now, join the waiting list and beat the autumn rush for this very popular league.
Have a great week off gents, enjoy the bank holiday weekend, see you on the 5th September.
