The inaugural week of the Bury St Edmunds Tuesday 6-a-side Football league was an eventful and thrilling spectacle. Teams across three divisions - Premier League, Division 1, and Division 2, gratefully took to the pitch, marking the exciting start of a brand new season.
In the Premier League, Quaresma Balls got off to a solid start, defeating Amigos FC 4-1, while Leavemyarcelona secured an impressive 6-2 victory over Athletic Bilbarrow. However, the highlight of the evening was a tightly contested match between Herois Do Mar and ECS, which ended in ECS's favour with a 3-2 win. The star performer in the Premier division was Jordan Barber of Leavemyarcelona, Barber's fine display going a long way towards ensuring his teams season started with a win.
Over in Division 1, Touch Matip and 2 Girls 1 Schlupp battled it out in a gripping 5-5 draw, while Mums Hot Sociedad edged past 3leslie 4-3. Kloppy Seconds also made a strong start with a 5-1 triumph over Earth Wind And Maguire. The league's top scorer, Dec, remarkably scored 4 goals for Touch Matip.
In Division 2, Sheffield Tuesday faced a crushing 5-0 defeat at the hands of Barely Athletico. Real Madribble and Dunk N Donuts provided one of the most thrilling encounters of the evening, ending in a 6-6 draw. Man Cave United, unfortunately, fell heavily to Heath Team, suffering a 10-0 loss. Josh Harris of Dunk N Donuts emerged as the top scorer with 3 goals.
The night, however, belonged to Deji Ogundipe of Heath Team, who was awarded the most valued player of the week, an honour well deserved considering his significant contributions to his team's emphatic victory. As the season progresses, both players and spectators will be keenly awaiting more such exhilarating performances on the pitch.
