All the latest news for the Stourbridge Monday 6-a-side League direct from Stourbridge Rugby Club.
It was great to welcome new team 'Still Trying FC' who despite the result put in a very good display. We wish them all the best moving forward in the league.
We had a few non-attendances so the league will be in contact with these teams to confirm there return for next week. It is paramount all teams are at the league each and every week and if there is anything happening to get in the way of this then the team contacts the Area Manager with enough notice to help if necessary.
Unfortunately in unprecedented circumstances the heavens opened at 9pm and washed out all the Division Three games at 9pm. The three games have therefore been postponed and will be replayed at 9:30pm next week. As for now they will show up as 0-0 draws on the website until the game takes place. Any questions on this then please do not hesitate to contact your Area Manager.
We did also have an incident in the game between 'Stourbridge United' and 'Bayern Neverlosen' when Lloyd Billingham of 'Stourbridge United' was sent from the field of play for violent conduct to an opposing player. He has be fined £50 and banned from the league permanently as the behaviour shown was unacceptable when taking part in a leisure league. It is paramount all teams and players remain in the rules of the league at all times, if not disciplines will be issued swiftly and accordingly in order to look after everyone at the league.
In more positive news, the game of the week in the Premier League was the tight affair between top of the league 'Celta Allstars' and league veterans 'Inter Mi'Bathams'. In a hotly contested game that saw lots of chances throughout and a game played at a very high tempo it was 'Celta Allstars' who were able to come out on top 3-2 and move within one win of the title for this season in there maiden season. Good luck to them next week!
A few games stand out in Division One but it was the game between 'PS Geezas' and 'Football Club FC' that was game of the night. Two very evenly matched teams that played out a great game but it was 'PS Geezas's long unbeaten run that survived as they came out as 3-2 winners. Congratulations to 'Roebuck FC' who have now confirmed there promotion to the Premier League for next season, 'PS Geezas' will join them with at least a point next week when they play new team 'Still Trying FC'.
The game of the night in Division Two was the game between 'West Midlands United F.C' and 'Pique Blinders'. Two similarly able teams that served up 7-goal thriller but it was 'Pique Blinders' who came out on top 4-3. With three points separating 2nd down to 7th in this league we are in for an interesting finish to the season with three games to go. If 'Dynamo B.C.' win next week they will confirm there promotion back to Division One so good luck to them.
Team of the week for this week has to be Division One's 'Call The Cops FC'. A very impressive 6-2 win against 'Dynamo Greyhound PFC' means they are two points clear in the race for third in this league. Can they extend this further when they face off against fourth placed 'Bayern Neverlosen' next week?
