The Lads put one hand on the Leisure Leagues Swindon trophy

It was crucial night on Thursday in the Leisure Leagues Swindon Academy six a side. A win for The Lads would almost certainly guarantee they would finish the season as champions.

In the first game Fat and Sassy went into their game against Exeter Gently knowing that even a win might not be good enough to keep alive their hopes of claiming the title. It was a close game with both teams struggling to create anything in the way of chances. In the end Fat and Sassy did finish the game off and grab the points while Exeter grabbed a consolation goal.

In game 2, BA boys probably put in their best performance of the season as they beat 1980s Legends 2-0. The result bodes well for next season when BA Boys will hope to climb the table. 1980s might not have been at their best but with The Plough playing the Lads, this week represented a good opportunity for 1980s Legends to close up the gap in their race to be crowned best of the rest.

In game 3 The lads all but confirmed their title win with a 3-1 victory over The Plough. The well oil machine of The Lads systematically played through The Plough several times scoring 3 in what wasn’t one of their best nights but showed the class they have. The Plough battled hard working tirelessly off the ball, and did have chances being denied by last ditch tackles and some good saves. AJ did pull a consolation goal back late on with a decent strike across goal into the bottom corner. However, The Plough were still happy. Knowing one point next week will seal third place in the final game of the season.

In the final game of the night Lean Teams recent upsurge in form was brought to an end by Spezial FC. It was a tight game but Spezial just edged it on balance. The victory ensured that Spezial climbed above Lean Team in the standings. Both teams will hope for better next season.
