Despite the somewhat sombre mood of the nation this week, our Tuesday night teams all gave their all at our Teignmouth 6 a side league last night. Thank you to all the players and staff for observing a minutes silence in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II before we kicked off.
Of course we were launching a new season last night which is always an exciting time for teams, sadly we lost a few during the day which meant we had a reduced line up of fixtures to start which is a shame but the teams that were there put in a good shift and had some great matches.
Dawlish kicked off their title challenge with a 6 - 3 win over Dorsetshire Sauce, striker Joe Boyne hitting the ground running with 5 of his teams goals while Zac Caderew stated where he left off last season with a couple but it wasn't enough for his team who must wait to get their seasons points total up and running. Paris Ganga Man and Newton Wanderers both took points wins from the opening night.
Division One had some cracking games, Priors Preds ended up drawing 4 - 4 with Future Stars in an epic battle that gave us 8 goals from 8 different goal scorers, brilliant game, well done to both teams and Old Dogs No Tricks made a fine start to the new campaign, Jon Jacobs on target twice in his sides 5 - 1 win over All Cider No Beer who were amazing for coming down early to play a match before their league game!
Well done to all our teams and thanks to Sam for filling in for Steve in organising things on match night.
Hopefully we can get the spaces filled quickly in both divisions and be running back at full capacity very soon. Registration is just £5 in September so with the season just getting going its a great time to get involved with the best 6 a side league in the area.
Have a great week guys, good luck next Tuesday.
