The much-awaited Hastings Monday Football League kicked off last night, marking the beginning of another thrilling season. Spectators were treated to an array of skills, tactics, and goals as teams from the Premier League and Division 1 divisions battled it out.
In the Premier League division, Snoods And Beanies set the pace with a convincing 4-0 victory over Dons United. Park The Bus also made a promising start, outclassing Cherbos Turbos 5-2. The game of the night was arguably Schindlers Assist’s 3-3 draw against Casuals, a testament to the competitive spirit in this division. Sheffield Monday, meanwhile, eked out a narrow 1-0 triumph over AFC Jelly Bellies.
ZAK of Park The Bus caught the eye with an impressive hat-trick, emerging as the top scorer in the Premier League division for the week.
Over in Division 1, Raggers FC, Bayern Neverlusen, and Not So Real Betis all started their campaigns with victories. However, it was Ollie Clark of Raggers FC who stole the show. Scoring three goals in his team's 3-0 win over Two Goals One Cup, Clark was undoubtedly the standout player of the division, and rightly named the week's Most Valued Player.
YongsFC also recorded a win against 5GuysPlus1 with a 2-1 score line, while We Showed Up United fell to Bayern Neverlusen 3-1.
The season has just begun, but it’s clear that competition in both divisions is fierce. With each passing week, the players' skills, tenacity, and teamwork will be put to the test. But for now, the spotlight is firmly on ZAK and Ollie Clark, the top scorers in their respective divisions. As the weeks roll on, it will be interesting to see if they can maintain their form, and who will rise to challenge them.
