I very much feel like I'm starting to repeat myself when I say that last night was, as always, a massive success! Another week of every team turning up and turning up on time for their game = a generally smooth running and successful evening of football, which has now become the norm for Leisure Leagues Basingstoke.
Lets get started on the interesting bit and the excitement of the night, let's see who walked away with the bragging rights of team of the week on Monday 11th March.
PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM OF THE WEEK!
Of course there was only one contender this week for team of the week and it had to go to Sperm tour AGAIN. These guys have really found their previous form and now they cannot stop winning, but not JUST winning, winning very convincingly! I know its easy to take some of their credit away and say they were only against Man Chest Hair United, who currently sit bottom of the league with zero points, but its always the game you expect to walk away with a win that you get caught out. In all fairness to Man Chest Hair United, they managed to hold Sperm Tour to just 0-1 at half time, where we were thinking, could it be one of those days where the underdogs steal the show...unfortunately not. The game ended 9-1 and was every bit one sided as you can imagine. Im not sure what was said or done in the half time team talk, but it most certainly worked. Sperm Tour really came out in the second half all guns blazing. One player in particular who had a massive improvement in the second half and really found his shooting boots, yet again that name that is becoming quite popular in the MOTM section, Gideon Vallence. This guy cannot stop scoring! he has really become vital for his team to be able achieve such an impressive looking scoreline.
PREMIER LEAGUE MOTM AWARDS
Haven't Got A Kalou vs Thanks For Points - Dom Gook. Dom has shown over the course of the season that he is a keeper very much worth having in your team and one im sure Haven't Got A Kalou value highly, Another brilliant performance by him!
ABCDE FC vs Shitzerland - Aaron Holloway. Aaron is the newest player to be added to the 'Most valuable player' list, with his first MOTM performance. lets hope its the first of many for him, especially with how well he played today.
DIVISION ONE TEAM OF THE WEEK!
This week we award it to Chicken Tikka Mo Sala. The boys really pulled out a great performance this week and should be very proud of themselves. They managed to comfortably push aside a decent team. 2 goals 1 cup were by no means at their best, but they are still a tough team to come up against. After Chicken Tikka Mo Sala got completely destroyed last week 10-3, they showed great team spirit and organisation to come back the following week and beat one of the leagues joint leaders as comfortably as they did. One player in particular that the referee decided deserves a special mention was Jordan Mathews. Jordan had a great game and I was told by the ref that for most of the match, he was the difference and the one 2 goals 1 cup just couldn't cope with. Plenty of energy and a performance for his team that he should be proud of.
DIVISION ONE MOTM
West Ham sandwich vs Sherborne Masters - Joseph Terry. Joseph is another New name to be added to the 'most valuable player' table after picking up his first MOTM of the season. A very tight game that couldve ended badly for his team, had he not have been there, finishing just 1-1
A couple of players missing out on their MOTM awards tonight, so don't forget to get yourselfs signed up to be able to receive it and potentially claim the bragging rights of ' most value player of the season'
