We are 2 weeks into the new season and things couldn't be going better...
Its time to welcome some new members of staff to our ever growing team. please welcome our new referees - Craig Prall and Mathew Young. Both Craig and Matt have settled into the team nicely and look to be an excellent and positive addition to Leisure Leagues Basingstoke, 2 faces you'll all be seeing very frequently moving forward.
How did the teams get on this week and who walks away with 'team of the week' this week? lets get on with it and find out....
PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM OF THE WEEK!
There really was only one team that shone as brightly as these guys and shone blindingly they did! Of course I could only be talking about Rough n Ready. With a score line of 16-3, these guys ran riot on a team that were infact title contenders at one point in time and to be honest, made them look like they were in the wrong division. Rough n Ready are a team that we were intrigued to see how they got on against a team with far younger legs, just to see if they could keep up with the tempo of the game. WELL! it looks like we have our answer, it most certainly wasn't the dominant side that struggled to keep up with the game. Though they suffered a heavy defeat in their opening game of the season, it appears that they are determined to be known as "tittle contenders". I also heard a strong statement from one of their players after their game, assuring me that they'll win every game from now on and win the league....team moral certainly isn't in question at the moment.
PREMIER LEAGUE MOTM!
Michal Borbely - THANKS FOR POINTS - Its good to see Michal picking up from where he left off and getting his MOTM tally up and running. I fully expect to see his name a few more times here.
James Hartwell - Athletico Pathetico - Simliar to Michal, James is a player that features heavily in this section. You really can only admire his left foot when it lets fly, especially the keeper, when it whistles past him into the net.
DIVISION 1 TEAM OF THE WEEK!
Stroke Titty had to steal it this week. The lads had a very solid performance and managed a very comfortable 8-0 win, also managing to claim top spot in the league table on goal difference. One player that was a massive help to his team on the night was the gaffer, Nick Bundy, who claimed the bringing rights of MOTM and leads by example, putting in a real shift for his team. Nick and his newly former team have started the season very well and managed to maintain a 100% record. They are considered title contenders, as they had a similar run of form in their pre-season friendlies last month. These lads are certainly ones to watch to see how they deal with their first season.
DIVISION 1 MOTM AWARDS!
Scott Elliot - Man Chest Hair United - Scott doing what Scott does best....what a great run of form his having, 2 MOTM performances in 2 games...enough said.
Jamie Pearce - Chicken Tikka Mo Salah - Jamie was a massive part in this team victory, he was the vocals and organisation that they very much needed.
Don't forget that there is no games next Monday, this is due to a bank holiday and the school not being open. See you on the 29th!
