Well I've never seen an end to the season like this one!
With only 5 week to go until the end of the season, we look at the league table and realise how close this is gonna be. Could this be the first season that the league title is decided over goal difference? With only 1 point separating the top 4 teams, it's looking increasingly likely.
Let's get into our team of the week.
PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM OF THE WEEK!
This week it has to go to Tea & Busquets. We don't know how they have done it, but they have managed to climb the table all the way from the bottom half, to now sit at the top of league. These guys were just a mid-table team and just 'doing alright' until they suddenly found form recently to go on a long unbeaten 6 game steak, pushing aside many of the leagues top teams in the process. Ferguson Maumbe and his team had a must win game in order to reach the leagues top spot against the only team in their way, Sherbourne Masters, who currently side above them in first place. Last night they proved that they are currently the best team in the league after a very emphatic 6-2 win, which rightfully saw them leapfrog their opponents into first place. Post match quote from the referee - "Tea & Busquets are the best team in the league for me, I predicted weeks ago that they will win the league and I stick by it. They really have it all - strength, pace and skill, people just can't get near them." One player in particular really did shine for them brightly last night when it mattered and that was the Gaffer - Ferguson Maumbe himself. The ref also said that there just aren't many players in the league with better feet and ball control than him, he's a joy to watch.
PREMIER LEAGUE MOTM AWARD!
James Hudson - Sperm Tour - referee quote "James started the game in goal and start away made a brilliant reaction save. He then came out on pitch shortly after and I cannot believe his work rate! He is everywhere and not just walking or jogging, sprinting everywhere! Where does he get the energy?! He is also nearly always involved in every goal. He had a brilliant game!"
DIVISION ONE TEAM OF THE WEEK!
BNP Paribas are this weeks division one team of the week after their 4-1 win against Astroworldies helped them swap positions with Chicken Tikka Mo Sala and into the safe zone of 6th place. This was another must win game, as a loss would've resulted in them going bottom of the league and most importantly, swapping positions with their opponents down the table. This win also put Will Banks and his team within touching distance of finishing the league mid table, which will be a good achieve for his lads, as they've been simmering mid table most of the season and to finish below that would be a real shame for them. They have a reliable and regular starting 6 lately and this has started to show in their organisation, especially last night in their comfortable win, which im told by the referee that it was never in doubt and that they controlled the game nicely. BNP have a could of fixates in the last 5 game of the season that could see them gain some points, but we've learned from this league to not underestimate the underdogs, upsets very much do happen, so we have plenty of faith that they'll achieve it.
DIVISION ONE MOTM AWARDS!
Tayo Ray - Stroke Titty - referee quote - "Tayo was full of energy and was all over the pitch creating good space for his team. He also managed to score a couple of really decent goals. He had a really good game tonight, it wasn't hard to pick him out."
