An interesting night of football in the Brierley Hill Wednesday 6-a-side League with all teams in attendance as expected.
It was great welcome new team 'Wombourne Every Minute' to the league and were fantastic in there first performance at the league. We wish them all the best moving forward and hope they look forward to the new season as much as we do!
Unfortunately, the night was ruined by one of the 8:30pm games as 'BBFC' took on 'Trust the Process'. With thirty seconds left in the game two players got into an altercation where punches were thrown by both and led to more multiple punches being thrown and unsavoury scenes from a number of people on both teams. Because of this behaviour I have been forced to remove both teams from the league as this kind of behaviour is not wanted or accepted in any league that we run. Although this does open up spaces it is paramount all teams are doing everything they can to respect there opponents, the referees, the centre and the neighbours to the venue on each league night, if this is not done it will be dealt with in the same way and in a swift matter each time.
In more positive news, The game of the week this week goes to the game between 'PuyolPantsDown' and 'Wombourne Every Minute'. A high tempo game that had chances and good play galore, but it was new team 'Wombourne Every Minute' who got a great win to start there life at the league. It'll be interesting to see how the team can perform in the remaining games of this season with a new season on the horizon.
For their performance above team of the week has to be 'Wombourne Every Minute'. A brilliant performance against their opponents on the night as the team settles into the league nicely. How many times can they get a victory between now and the end of the season?
