In an exhilarating conclusion to Abingdon Monday's 5-a-side football season, teams from divisions 1, 2, and 3 battled it out in the 18th and final week of play.
DIVISION ONE
In Division 1, it was Royal Madrid who emerged victorious, their superb performances securing them an impressive 15 wins and a total of 32 points. Their dominance in the division was clear, with their last match against The Six Offenders ending in a decisive 7-2 triumph. However, it was not all about Royal Madrid; credit must be given to The Broad Beans who scored an impressive 8-5 victory over FC Unts to finish as runners up. Meanwhile, Only Put Matip In showed their offensive prowess with a staggering 15-0 victory against Ange Summers to secure a 4th place finish with Six Offenders in 3rd. The other game in Div 1 saw Local Benchwarmers edge it 2-1 against The High 5.
DIVISION TWO
In Division 2, the Cunning Stunts bagged the top spot with a total of 24 points and a commendable 12 victories. Their strategic gameplay and unyielding defence were key for their success throughout the season. We had a couple of teams away this week in Div 2 so Stunts took on runners up Intayanan in a friendly game, both teams will meet again in the top flight next season. In other results Pathetico Madrid defeated Only Kruls and Horses 9-4 while Expeected Toulouse had a comfortable win over Rejects 10-0. Finally Osama were unlucky to miss out on promotion by a point as they ended the season with a 4-2 victory against Sons Of Pitches.
DIVISION THREE
Finally, in Division 3, His Mind FC outshone their opponents to claim the trophy with 14 wins and a total of 28 points, what a turn around it's been for them after finishing second bottom last season, they clinched the title with a tight 3-2 win over Schofields who made them work for it. Fiorentina Turner also exhibited a remarkable performance by defeating Xavi Dodgers 7-1 to leapfrog Optek into the runners up spot after they went down 2-1 to Hardly Athletic. The other game saw Survey Monkey's win 4-3 against Casuals.
As we wrap up this season, the excitement and team spirit displayed by all teams were nothing short of extraordinary. Congratulations to Royal Madrid, Cunning Stunts, and His Mind FC on their well-deserved victories. We eagerly await the next season's kick-off, expecting it to be filled with the same intensity, sportsmanship, and love for the beautiful game.
