ABINGDON 5 A SIDE FOOTBALL - WEDNESDAY NIGHT

ONE SPACE AVAILABLE - START NEXT WEDNESDAY AHEAD OF NEW SEASON

It was the penultimate match night last night in our Wednesday night 5 a side league played at Tilsley Park in Abingdon and as always we had an entertaining evening of football. Nearly all 18 teams were there with just Botley Wanderers taking a 5 - 0 win from the one remaining space in the top flight. Our officials Dean, Ian, Tom & Sot did a great job managing match night. Lets have a look at what happened.

PREMIER LEAGUE

Berinsfield returned with a big win this week to put a dent in HoldMyBeer's title challenge with Redtail taking pole position following their 8 - 3 win over Botley's Finest. Everything rides on next weeks final game of the season when the top two play what is effectively a title decider HoldMyBeer must win as Redtail carry a far better goal difference going into the final week. 

DIVISION ONE

It's a similar story in Division One where the top two will settle the title next week. Goring GOB's beat Wenger Boys last night 8 -1 while The Mighty Duck had a strong 11 - 3 win over Slough Posse to set things up nicely for the title showdown. FCUOB's 9 - 6 win against Basically Barca leaves them a point off the pace but promotion is still possible if Mighty Ducks are beaten and FCUOB get a win over Wenger Boys.

DIVISION TWO

Appleton Red's will be crowned as Division Two champions next week as they hold a comfortable lead at the top of Division Two. They beat Ale Stars last night and can't be caught now with a 5 point lead over new side Bayern Neverlosen who won their 1st game against Serious Heat and look set to be promoted. Outer Milan picked up a tidy win over Maragonna 7 - 3
