Abingdon Wednesday Football League Concludes with Thrilling Final Matches
The Abingdon Wednesday Football League came to an exciting close last night as teams battled it out for the final week of the season. With intense competition and memorable performances, the league showcased the passion and skill of local football teams.
In the Premier League division, Goring GOBs faced off against Basically Barca, resulting in a hard-fought 1 - 1 draw. Both teams displayed exceptional teamwork and determination, leaving all involved on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.
In Division 1, Abingdon's Finest took on Outer Milan in a high-scoring encounter. Abingdon's Finest emerged victorious with a 5 - 3 win, showcasing their attacking prowess and ability to find the back of the net. Meanwhile, The Mighty Ducks demonstrated their dominance in a remarkable 19 - 3 victory over AFC Deez Whites, securing their title as Division 1 champions.
Division 2 provided its fair share of excitement as well. Serious Heat clashed with Maragonna in a closely contested match, with Serious Heat eventually prevailing 5 - 3. Ultimately, it was OGM FC who claimed the Division 2 championship with an outstanding total of 17 points and 8 wins. Their consistent performances throughout the season cemented their place at the top of the table.
The Abingdon Wednesday Football League concluded with a brilliant showcase of talent, commitment, and sportsmanship. Congratulations to Botley Wanderers, The Mighty Ducks, and OGM FC on their well-deserved titles in the Premier League, Division 1, and Division 2, respectively. We eagerly await the next season of thrilling football action in Abingdon.
The seasons golden boot awards go to Harry Stanley of Botley Wanderers in the Prem with 23 goals while Outer Milan's Morgan Castle claims the Division One prize with his 18 goals. Meanwhile Ale Stars dominate the Division Two charts with Sean Weston coming out on top with 16 goals for his team.
Remember, if you want your players to win individual prizes they must be registered to your team and you must submit your goal scorers to us after your game, if we don't get them we can't add them to your players.
