New Abingdon Wednesday 5 a side season gets underway!

Last night marked the commencement of the much-anticipated Abingdon Wednesday league, a competitive 5-a-side football tournament divided into three divisions: Premier League, Division 1, and Division 2.

PREMIER LEAGUE  

In the Premier League, TerryBell FC stormed off to a commanding start, defeating Hangover 96 with a convincing 8-3 win in the season opener. The Mighty Ducks and Basically Barca played a hard-fought match, which, after a gruelling game it ended in a close 3-2 victory for The Mighty Ducks. In another high scoring affair, GigaMadrid showcased a dominant performance over Slough Posse FC, defeating them 7-2.

DIVISION ONE

The Division 1 matches were equally thrilling as FCUOB and Ale Stars locked horns. FCUOB emerged victorious with a commanding 8-3 victory over their rivals. UTFH followed suit and defeated Maragonna 6-3. In the last game of the division, Spraggys Chopper FC had a convincing 6-3 win over Spoonies FC.

DIVISION TWO

The fervour and competitiveness continued in Division 2 with Park The Airbus and JET FC battling it out. The Airbus team notched up a 6-3 win over JET FC. In the division's final game, Tedrooney GFC secured an impressive 10-2 victory over Shy Teds FC.

As the season has just begun, all teams are still finding their footing and working on their strengths and weaknesses. With such a thrilling start, the Abingdon Wednesday league promises to deliver a fantastic season of football ahead.
