New Abingdon Wednesday 5 a side season kicks off!

Abingdon Wednesday, the much-anticipated 5-a-side football league, exploded into action last night as teams across three divisions clashed in a thrilling opening round.

PREMIER LEAGUE

Premier League action saw The Mighty Ducks overwhelm Basically Barca 5-1, showcasing impressive offensive and defensive performances. However, the highlight of the night came from the electrifying match between Hangover 96 and Spraggys Chopper FC, with the latter securing an impressive 12-1 victory. Ballotellitubies also started their season on a high, dominating FCUOB with an 11-3 result.

DIVISION ONE

Division 1 also witnessed intense competition. Slough Posse FC were outdone by Tedrooney Gfc in a hard fought 4-2 match, while Maragonna emerged victorious over Big Justice FC with a 4-2 triumph. The high-scoring action continued with TerryBell FC coming out on top in their 6-4 victory against Serious Heat.

DIVISION TWO

In Division 2, Park The Airbus edged JET FC 2-1 in a nail-biting encounter. Shy Teds FC managed to secure a close 4-3 victory over Ale Stars, whereas Spoonies FC were the star performers, defeating Pickle FC 10-4.

Although it's the start of the season, each division already has standout performers: The Mighty Ducks in the Premier League, TerryBell FC in Division 1, and Spoonies FC in Division 2. These teams have set the bar high in week 1, showcasing both their talent and strategic prowess on the pitch.

We are eagerly awaiting the next week's fixtures. If the opening round is any indication of what's to come, the Abingdon Wednesday Football League promises an exciting season full of nail-biting action and remarkable performances.

Thank you to Dean for running the evening and to all of our refs and players. Good luck next week!
