Another wet night at our Abingdon Wednesday night 5 a side league didn't put off the teams as they took to the pitches to begin the first round of matches this season. We had a couple of teams away this week who will be back but everyone else was in attendance and all teams used the new online payment system. Thank you, this is much appreciated.
The early leaders in the Premier League are Trade FC who took the points against newly promoted Fatzio with a 6-0 win to go top. Champions Saky Thirds and G Block Europe both had points match wins with Hardly Athletic and Slough Posse being away. The other matches in the top flight was a close one as two quality teams Ye Mon and Abingdons battled it out with Ye Mon taking the win 5-3.
Moving into Div 1 and Crouchy United are looking to bounce back after relegation and they got off to a flyer beating new team The Gardeners FC 14-6. Obi Wan Kenobi Nill go second after their points match win due to Rafacakes vacating the league. Big thank you to Rafacakes for their time in in the league, unfortunately many of the team have moved away but they are looking to come back hopefully in November. In the other matches new team Bad Kompany beat FC Hog 6-2 while Ale Stars got the better of The Mighty Ducks 5-2.
Finally we head into Div 2 where BTEC Moscow are the early leaders. They took on the Unremarkables who must be given massive credit for coming back after a huge defeat last week. They had another defeat last night but scored a goal. Great to hear. Into second place are Shaktar Last Night who won comfortably against Cheat Codes while other results in the division were much closer with Kipsta FC beating FC Spangled 3-2 and Spread The Play defeating Chamakh My Pitch Up 6-4.
Thank you to all teams and see you next week. With Rafacakes taking a break from the league we do have one available team slot in the league. If you are interested in getting your team involved and taking the place please get in touch with Rich on 07969 731086 or register at the link below:
