It's so good to have football back and we were delighted to welcome all 16 teams back to Valley Park for the relaunch of the Wednesday night league.
In the Premier league there was a big win for MK Dongs who climb out of the relegation zone and did their goal difference no harm as they smashed 11 past Cream Rises, Jay netting 5 and placing himself 3rd in the race for the golden boot. Cream rises will be looking to find some form next time against fellow strugglers Geri Hattricks.
That won't be easy though if this weeks performance is anything to go by as Geri Hattricks more than held there own against table toppers Real Ale Madrid, eventually being edged out 4 - 3 but showing great fight it what was a great game.
Multiple Scoregasms kept the pressure on at the top with a 3 - 1 win over Boba Seniors who now lay 4th with 4 games to go.
The final game in the division last night was another classic where Astro Worldies scored 4 goals, by 4 different goal scorers to take the points and remain in 3rd place against 2 Girls 1 Schlupp who will feel unfortunate to find themselves dropping to 6th despite banging in 3 goals themselves.
It was goals galore in Division 1 where both the top sides boosted their chances of promotion with solid wins. Heath Gang stay top and look good to go up having put 4 past 2 Goals 1 Cup who could only find the net once in reply. 2 Goals 1 Cup drop to 6th and will be looking over their shoulders in the coming weeks as the battle at the bottom heats up.
The charge for promotion also continued for Wildfire who certainly found their shooting boots pretty quickly to stick 9 past Portugeezers who have work to do now if they have eyes on the Prem next season. Portugeezers scored 4 of their own in a very open game but they will want to sure the defence up next time out when they play Kazakhstan FC.
They will have their work cut out there with Kazakhstan proving they have plenty of firepower themselves as the 4th placed side racked up a 10 - 1 win over Maidstone Charvis who found the restart tough going and drop to 5th place. Some work to do for them now as they prepare to face the leaders next.
The final game saw the bottom two sides go head to head where 2 goals from Daika Montague made the difference as Dudley Athletic closed the gap and moved within a point of their opponents Boobs and Doobs with a 4 - 1 win.
So thats it, a great 1st night back, thank you to all the captains for sorting their teams out and to Derek, Josh and Graham for running the games.
