MATCH NIGHT REPORT - ROUND 1

Our Wednesday night league is officially underway! Was great to see all 8 teams in action for the first time. 

We started tonight with Benfleet Butchers v Scratchers United. First game of the season is always a tough one as no one knows style of play or the opposition. Butchers were ruthless in their approach and banged in 11 and kept a clean sheet in what would be the perfect start. Tommy Day ends the night with 4 goals and top of the scorers chart after week 1. A tough start for Scratchers but plenty of time to bounce back. 

Then at 7:40 we had LeaveMyArselona v Loonatics FC. Both sides started positively with both looking very fresh considering we’ve not long been out of lockdown. Loonatics scored some lovely goals on the night and despite Arselona’s best efforts they lost the game 7-3. Great start for the Loonatics! 

Then 2 games at 8:20. The first was DBA v NoCapUnited. It’s been a while since DBA left our Thursday league but they didn’t look out of place tonight at all with composure on the ball and 2 tidy finishes. No Cap made a great effort to turn this one round but the experience of DBA got them through to victory on week 1. 

Then our final game saw Tottenham Hotsperm take on Madeline Milan. Milan, the other half of Arselona’s 11 a side team were raring to go and had plenty of numbers on board. Some great finishes saw them take victory for the first time. Hotsperm showed real signs of brilliance with 2 great goals from Joe ‘Fat Tel’ Daley but it wasn’t enough to take the points in this one. 

It was great to see all teams take part in what looks to be an action packed season. 

Please note that Waterside 4G is closed next week so our league will continue from Wednesday 19th August. Enjoy the short break and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2 weeks time!
