Another action packed Wednesday night over at Waterside with all 8 teams again in action with some eye-opening results which shake up the league table.
We started the night with 2 of the top 3 going head to head. Top of the table Benfleet Butchers v Loonatics FC. Both sides have started the season very well and this looked to be an exciting game. After a tight first 15 mins it took a great finish from Loonatics to take a 1-0 lead. Both sides had great chances throughout but it was not Butchers night. They ended the game with 5 men and lost their first game of the season to a team that will look to be challenging them for the title come the end of the season. 4-0 Loonatics the final result.
Then at 7:40 we had Tottenham Hotsperm v LeaveMyArselona. A tough start for Hotsperm saw them needing a win to boost them up the table. It was a great game with either sides having good chances and battles throughout the pitch. 2-2 with a minute to go and Joe Daley scored a great goal to secure Hotsperm’s first victory of the season.
Then at 8:20 we had Madeline Milan take on No Cap United. No Cap still waiting for their first point of the season after a difficult start in which they have played some really good football but haven’t taken their chances. Unfortunately tonight was not their night as Milan returned to action with another very professional performance to take a 2-0 victory. Another team looking to chase for the title after some impressive results.
Our last game was Scratchers United v DBA. Scratchers were in good form ahead of this one and top goalscorer George Cole looked to add to his already impressive tally. That he did. Another 4 goals led Scratchers to their 3rd victory in a row and puts them as potential contenders after tonight’s other results. 5-3 the final score in what was a very thrilling game of football.
Thanks to all those who took part tonight. We look forward to seeing you all again next Wednesday for another great night if football at Waterside!
