Due to a technical error, that being my rather ageing brain cells, it would appear that Monday News has been missed in recent weeks!
My apologies, here's an update of where the League stands;
2 Girls 1 Schlupp sit a the top of the tree currently, having taken 2 wins on the bounce. a 3-1 win over new boys Scholes Galore, and a Points Match win over Green Pete Elite, who failed to get a team to field last week.
Nipping at their heels however are another new entry this season, in Man Chest Hair United. A hard fought 1-0 win over We Arebeloa Lot of Teams last week and another tough 2-2 draw against the Champions, Armitage Shanks the week prior, hold them in good stead, and a serious competitor for the title!
With their draw and a win this week, the last season champions sit a solid 3rd. This season, with new additions, is proving to be a different prospect to the last, where Armitage Shanks only lost 1 game and that was the last one of the season! They currently sit 3 behind the leaders, but are by no means out of this race yet!
New arrivals No Cabbages Just Worldies anchor the middle of the table, following a 5-0 win over Scholes United and a 5-2 Loss to We Arebeloa. Its a mixed bag for No Cabbages, as they find their feet in the division. It must be said however, that No Cabbages have been stretched, as they have been playing out their season on Sunday Night's, starting their Monday Night Campaign, AND playing Tuesday Night Cup Matches. Now with a focus on just one league night, things here could change.
We Arbeloa Lot of Teams sit in 5th, behind No Cabbages on goal difference alone. A win and a loss in recent weeks has seen them drop a place or two. They seem to have been missing their all important guiding voice, as the solid left back with a voice of guidance, has been missing of late.
La-Lla-Na Land have put in some solid performances of late, and only went down 1-0 to the last seasons champions in last weeks head to head match up. A result they should be proud of as there is some real improvement here. The week before saw them take a convincing 7-0 win over Green Pete Elite, La-Lla-Na Land are the dark horses of this division and a capable of mounting a charge for the top spot!
Despite handing Armitage Shanks a 2-1 loss in the opening match of the season, Scholes Galore have struggled to keep the same form of late with a 5-0 defeat to No Cabbages last week and a 3-1 loss to League leaders 2 Girls 1 Schlupp the week prior. It should be noted however, that the 5-0 loss to No Cabbages was with a five man squad, and most of the goals came in the second half. So, they held them at bay, and weren't without chances themselves, but the pitches are HUGE when you have 5 players and i think they just ran out of steam as the match drew on!
Finally, Green Pete Elite anchor the table, after a 7-0 drumming from La-Lla-Na Land and then a No-Show loss this week. They still on pace in the early stages though. Yet to take a point, BUT still only 2 points behind. They are an ever improving team, with new faces appearing all the time. They don't go without their chances either, they just need to get the last step and slot a few between the sticks!
All in all this is a really great division, totally unpredictable and WE LOVE IT.
