With a sickness bug seemingly sweeping the Weston lowlands, we were a few teams light last night, on a drizzly but relatively mild night @Worle.
Two new teams joined the League and made their debuts, with Chicken Tikka Mo-Salah and Tomato Town taking their first run on the park.
On the flip side, APOLLO CREED have been ejected from the league due to failures to attend.
Premier League -
With The Squirells holed up indoors with their hot water bottles, Murder on Zidane's Floor took a Points Match win.
Woodworks edged Nuts United 3-2 in a tightly fought battle on the pitch.
Groggy Season held Tekker Slovakia to a goalless draw.
Murder sit at the top of the tree on goal difference tied for points with Groggy Season. But the Division is tightly contested still with only 4 points between top and bottom. There's some tasty fixtures next week which could change everything again!
Division 1 -
Seshiktas too were bitten by the bug last night, so Net Six and Chill took their Points Match Win.
Nuts United B put a trio of goals past Expected Toulouse without reply.
West Ham Egg N Chips edged AFC Dry Lunch 2-1 in a hotly contested match.
BUT.. The Match of the night last night was definitely Chamakh My Pitch Up vs Academicals. End to end high tempo football was on display, with both teams eager to take the win. 2-1 at the break to Chamakh.
Academicals, having had a strong word or two from the Captain at the break came back fighting. At the final whistle however it was 5-4 to Chamakh My Pitch Up.
Academicals retain the top spot in the Division, but, only alphabetically with Nuts United B sitting behind them. Chamakh are in the mix too, with the same number of points as the other, just goal difference splitting them to 3rd.
Division 2-
Real Lee Sheet welcomed the new boys Tomato Town to Leisure Leagues, and handed them a 3-1 defeat as a welcome present. BUT, all too often we see new teams take a week or two to find their rhythm, so, watch this space!
99 Problems continue to march on, having been promoted to this division this season, they have yet to drop a point and retain the top spot.
Bayer Neverlusen went head to head with Ivory Toast, Bayer slotting home 4 with only one in reply. Final score 4-1.
Division 3 -
Weston Warriors and Lets be Havin You opened the night in style with an epic battle on the park. Neither team however, could break the defence or the deadlock. Final result 0-0.
Ninja Skrtels scored a Hat Trick against Hamstrung, who only managed to squeeze one between the sticks.
Jewventus, who are currently on form, returned to the park after their draw last week, looking to bag some more points. This, they achieved with a 4-2 win over Where are all the Wags!
Finally, there was the battle of the Chickens this evening, as Bentke Fried Chicken looked to welcome Chicken Tikka Mo-Salah to their first outing. In the end the Southern Fried style of play overwhelmed the Mild curry, as Benteke fired 8 past the newcomers, with, only 1 in reply.
So, that's a wrap for Match Week 5 in the Sunday League. We hope the sickness bug passes and we will be back to full strength next Sunday.
See you there!
