We enjoyed a great night in the cold to end the current season at the Kidderminster Monday 6-a-side league at Wyre Forest Leisure Centre, as all teams were in attendance as scheduled.
Match Report:
We kicked off the evening with Netsix & Chill going up against Joe Mama in the opening game. Joe Mama were missing a couple of regulars due to 11-a-side commitments, and the stand ins proved not enough against an in-form Netsix. Kai Turnell bagged a brace, Whitehouse a hat-trick and Farrington bagged four to see Netsix run out 9-1 winners. Captain Joel Spencer added a great goal in consolation, which takes his impressive total to 11 goals in 4 goals since joining the league.
Next up we saw a very competitive game with Motherwell yes thanks bud taking on Gangsters Allardyce. The 4-1 scoreline didn't reflect how close the game was, with a couple of late goals for Motherwell ramping up the result. Keiran Tucholski and Hill got one goal each, whilst Pugh bagged a brace, with Sankey netting the only goal for Gangsters Allardyce.
The middle game of the night was the main event, with top placed Mo Salad facing over against Matamatics in the game that would decide the league title. Both teams looked up for the challenge pre-game, with both teams arriving early and warming up on the sidelines. Mo Salad bought with them a sizeable crowd to cheer on the lads. Unfortunately, they were silenced early on in the game, with Matamatics starting off the much better of the two sides. They broke the deadlock early on and then, due to a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes from Mo Salad, saw themselves 3-0 in the blink of an eye.
Going behind early on meant Mo Salad were forced to go on the attack then, leaving space in behind them that allowed Matamatics to sit back and hit them on the counter attack. At half time Matamatics had a 6-0 lead and were in pole position. Second half saw Mo Salad put up a spirited response, and saw them score their only goal of the game. Matamatics ran out 7-1 winners to take home the title. Goals from league top scorer Jamie Meddows (4) Andy Pawson (2) and one from McCoy for Matamatics, with Jakob Jones scoring in reply for Mo Salad.
Rodallega Bombs were the top scorers on the night, smashing 19 goals past a young Beast FC side. Luke Calcott scored an incredible 8 goals on the night as he found himself in fantastic form, with Payton getting an honorable mentioned scoring 6 goals. Coleman score the only goal for Beast FC.
Last up saw new side Wiener Boys coming up against league veterans Taking the Mikoutaran. The experience of Mikoutaryan shone through on the night, with them running out convincing 17 - 0 winners thanks to goals from Callum Charles (4) Cook (4) Morris (3) J Mayo (3) B Mayo (2) and Aaron Evans.
