And we’re live!
The third ISF World Cup, powered by Leisure Leagues, got started in Budapest yesterday for the first time for three years and Hungary 2022 certainly brought the goals.
The headline makers were the hosts, who smashed seven in against Serbia in front of a raucous home crowd and laid down their marker.
Elsewhere another team made up of Leisure Leagues players, Lithuania, took the eye. The highly fancied side, now under the tutelage of former Lithuania international Mindaugas Grigalevičius, who got two caps for the 11 a side team, beat Morocco 9-0.
It had all got underway earlier in the day with Oman seeing off Nigeria 3-0 after an opening ceremony.
Perhaps the individual display of the day saw veteran England striker Dean McDonald (pictured above), who once played for Arsenal and Ipswich in the English professional leagues, score all four of his sides goals in a 4-1 win over Portugal.
It all resumes again today and amongst the highlights is Germany getting their campaign to win a second trophy off the mark when they take on Latvia this evening, while earlier in the day there is sure to be plenty of emotion as Ukraine face Tunisia.
