Footballers in Reading will have even more choice next month as a long established football firm expands its business.
Leisure Leagues – Europe’s largest providers of 5 and 6 a side football – are responding to phenomenal demand and starting up another competition.
The league will run on Sunday’s and Tuesday’s at John Madejski Academy and is an addition to the popular, award winning and long standing Tuesday league at Prospect Park.
There is reduced entry to the new league, and the winners and runners up will receive entry into the Leisure Leagues monthly prize draw – which has a top prize of a holiday to Germany to watch a Bundesliga match.
League Manager Adam Glover said the company was looking forward to the new league kicking off and paid tribute to everyone involved in the area: “The fact we are in a position to start the new league really is down to the hard work of the referees and staff there, not to mention the commitment of all the players.
“We are continually taken aback by the appetite for football that the people of Reading show and we are delighted that we are able to help them by staging this league.”
“We would very much like to thank everyone at JMA for all their help in allowing us to set up this extra league, the facilities there are really first class and we are delighted that we can make use of them.”
Six a side football in general has been struggling recently, with Powerleagues announcing the closure of 13 sites, but Adam said that Leisure Leagues has continued to grow, due to the quality of their competitions. “We operate leagues all over the world, and we are thrilled to be offering yet another new one.”
Each game will have a qualified referee and all equipment is provided.
Leisure Leagues are the only league provider to donate all their profits to charities and good causes.
