KILKENNY KICKS OFF

As life slowly returns to normal following this incredible period in world history, we are delighted to say that another of our leagues is ready for kick off, with Kilkenny Sunday 6 side just days from a resumption.

Following the announcement last week that Irish Sport can begin from the 29th June, we can confirm that this applies to our league in Kilkenny and the competition at Watershed will be re-starting on Sunday 5th July.

Area Manager, Ashlee Parker admitted she couldn’t wait to get going again and added: “After 16 weeks of no 6 a side football in Kilkenny we were delighted to hear the government announcement that all sport would be able to resume, we look forward to seeing all our teams & match officials at The Watershed on July 5th for the rest of the Leisure Leagues season.”

The league is one of Leisure Leagues longest running in the whole of Ireland. Thousands of players have played over the years, with Ashlee explaining that is a small insight into what the company has done throughout the world: “These community leagues are vital,” she said. “for fitness, but also togetherness, and we know how they’ve been missed over the last few weeks. The effect on physical and mental health of these competitions cannot be underestimated.”

Players from the league, along with our others across Ireland were there in Crete at the World Cup (pictured above) , in front of thousands of fans and millions watching on TV, with Ash commenting: “We are proud to be the only league provider to offer this chance and our message is simple: Win in Kilkenny and take on the world.”

Leisure Leagues became the first provider of small sided football in Great Britain to announce a resumption of its leagues, with the Guernsey competition set to kick off tomorrow, all with our new Covid-19 safety protocols in place.
