What a start to the new season in the Liverpool 6 a side league, as the competition with has taken the city by storm extended.
One of the new teams, All Zaamah FC, immediately showed that they will be a force to reckon with and recorded a thumping 10-0 victory over Resurrected 6, in what was arguably the finest first match in Leisure Leagues history.
It was certainly the biggest win of the day, as Drose Angels and Genky FC shared a goalless draw.
There was another goalless draw in division one, as S Club Smithdown couldn’t smash Mash FC, although Sepad did find their scoring boots as they beat 315 Alive.
Leisure Leagues’ Jake Garratt couldn’t hide his delight at how it had gone saying: “It was a wet evening at Tiber, but that didn’t dampen the football on display.”
Referee Ant Canavan echoed those thoughts, adding: “Always look forward to Monday night in Toxteth and I never thought I’d hear myself say that!”
The league continues next week, and is set to continue to provide fun, camaraderie and fitness in these most trying of times.
