All to play for in each of the four divisions in Macclesfield’s 6 a side league with five games left of the season.
Woodiwiss are the very much the team to beat in the Premier League – even if no one has yet, as they saw off Jolly Sailors 5-0 for their ninth successive win, while 2G1C are keeping the pressure on, even if they were made to work hard by bottom side Steeler before beating them by the odd goal in three.
There was a shock in division one last night, with Maccistan suffering a 5-1 reverse at the hands of Allmand Smith Army, with James Allmand-Smith taking the eye. Third placed Forage Green Rovers took full advantage and moved themselves up to third, on level points, after beating Super Adventure Club 2-0.
The top two in division two both won. Espagbol and Real Maccdrid victorious against Fighting Mongooses and Savilla respectively, while Macclesfield Roadmen moved off the bottom, by beating Club Tropicana Drinks FC, who replace them, 5-0.
There is quite the race to be promoted from Division Three, with six points separating the top six sides. Milan are top of the pile, squeaking home 1-0 against Jasmine Juicemakers, but everyone down to Champagne Super Rovers – who saw off Joy Diversion 3-1 and sit in sixth – will feel they have a chance.
Leagues Manager Adam Glover was delighted and added: “This league in Macclesfield is magnificent and it is credit to everyone there that the facilities are already so important to the community. I can only see our leagues going from strength to strength if this first season is anything to go by.”
