Senior Development Director for the ISF Martin Cassidy reacted to the addition to his team last month, saying: “The appointment can help us grow.”
German Marketer Christoph Koechy returned to take a more prominent role with the federation this week and Martin admitted he was looking forward to working with the experienced Marketer: “If we are going to progress and continue delivering the world class events that the ISF has be renowned for, then having people like Christoph working with us again in his new role is important. He brings a wealth of experience, particularly in Germany, that will be important to us.”
Martin, who works for Leisure Leagues – the power behind the ISF – full time as their UK and International Development Director, as well heading the referees team for ISF, explained that the global nature of the sport was shown by the number of countries who were clamouring to be part of the 2022 World Cup.
“The take-up is incredible, players from every continent are set to go to Cozumel, where the team from Leisure Leagues Mexico are going to deliver an event no one will forget. The addition of Christoph – and others – will greatly assist in that.”
The World Cup has already received top level support, with the Governor of the State of Quintana Roo, Carlos Joaquin Gonzalez saying “We are going to welcome all nations with open arms and traditional Mexican hospitality. This area of Mexico is already known as a prime tourist destination and, apart from the football, there are going to be so many things for the teams to do when they get here, I think they are going to have the time of their lives. Let the action begin!”
Martin also added that all the indications were that the 2022 World Cup was going to smash the record of 300,000,000 viewers that the 2019 event gathered. “The pandemic derailed us, like it did everyone else, but we are fully expecting to bring the world together in even bigger numbers. This in turn brings opportunities for sponsors and Christoph will be a help in that regard.”
The 2022 World Cup gets underway on 1st April 2022 – and will see Champions Russia defend their crown. More news in the coming days, but it was confirmed that Leisure Leagues players from across the world will be invited to trails again.
Martin commented: “We can’t wait to get going with the World Cup’s going again. It’s been a massive hole in everyone’s lives to not have one for two years, but its coming back and it’ll be be bigger and better than ever, watch this space!”
