AFC Brexit had already won the Kilkenny 6 a side league even before the last game of the season – but they put the finishing touches on it in style!
The champions crushed Rathleague Rovers FC by an incredible 14-0 margin and Stephen Keegan was at his ruthless best throughout the romp.
Second placed Gaelic Utilities were also amongst the last day goals, shutting up Shush FC with a 7-1 win, which saw Luis Machado amongst the goals, while elsewhere Ladzio were impressive. Michael Perdue shining in their 5-0 cruise.
The new season kicks off this weekend with a mouth-watering clash in prospect as last season’s top two face off – winners will be playing for the opportunity to jet off to Benidorm if they scoop the star prize.
League Manager Sunny Mahal was already looking forward to the new season, saying: “It was a fantastic campaign that has just ended and I congratulate Brexit for their landslide victory, we look forward to welcoming them back to defend their title.”
They will be joined by a host of new teams, with Sunny adding: “It will be fantastic to welcome all the new sides and it will make the league wonderfully competitive.”
The best players could find themselves on the plane to the 6 a side world cup too, as Leisure Leagues operate the Ireland team, and those who stand out at the league make up the travelling party.
