The brand new community 6 a side football league in Shaftesbury kicked off last night, and it was Twigs And Berries who put down an early marker.
Their 6-0 romp over Stick My Willian was perhaps the pick of the games, but there was plenty of superb football elsewhere too.
George Coleman and Keiran Maskell were amongst the goals as Madeline Milan saw off Onion Baggers 3-1, as the entertaining fixtures got the league started.
Area Manager Danne Masterson admitted he was delighted with the kick off and added: “It’s great to welcome these teams to the Leisure Leagues family, and this is just the start. This league will going from strength to strength in the coming weeks.”
Danne added that he was expecting to add another new division soon and thanked everyone at the football club for their help: “We view it very much as a partnership,” said Danne and that’s very much been the case here and things are so much better with that level of support.
Teams will now be playing for a range of things, including a spot in the Leisure Leagues Weekly Prize Draw – which is incorporated into the Leisure Leagues Live TV Show, which is broadcast on social media every Tuesday at 7pm.
That is for the future though, next week is all about league points as Twigs take on Dr. Pepper, while bottom side Willian will be looking to get off the mark against Borussia Teeth.
