The benefits of Brexit were finally shown last night as Brexit Ballers voted themselves to the top of the table, as the new Great Yarmouth 6 a side league kicked off in incredible style.
Skipper Paul Belton laid down a marker with his brilliant form in Ballers’ 7-0 thumping of The Crimpers, which provided the highlight of what was a stellar opening night at Flegg School Ormiston Academy.
Elsewhere, Krul Intentions showed that intent was to win, as they saw off Might Be Late with a 7-0 scoreline of their own, and Newtown’s Finest’s Jayden Van Den Ecker was at his best as they prevailed in a ding-dong clash of with 90T FC, eventually winning the pulsating encounter 6-3.
A quartet of magnificent top division matches was completed by WLTDO’s 3-0 cruise over Smack My Pitch Up.
Area Manager Ben Schumann admitted he was delighted with the kick off and added: “It’s great to see these teams in the Leisure Leagues family, and this is just the start. This league will going from strength to strength in the coming weeks.”
Ben added that he was expecting to add another new division soon and thanked everyone at the school for their help: “We view it very much as a partnership,” said n. “That’s very much been the case here and things are so much better with that level of support. “
Teams will now be playing for a range of things, including a chance to go to Benidorm if they win the star prize in the Prize Draw – which is incorporated into the Leisure Leagues Live TV Show, which is broadcast on social media on the first Tuesday of every month.
That is for the future though, next week is all about league points as early leading duo Brexit and Krul take on 9TFC and The Crimpers respectively and Might Be Late will be looking to get off the mark against WLTDO
