Hundreds of new players will have the opportunity to play sport in Redditch, as it became the latest of our leagues to extend after lockdown.
Our league at Redditch United FC added a second division this past bank holiday weekend, giving the chance for vital fitness and camaraderie in the Worcestershire town.
The Bikini Bottom Boys took the eye, as they took a break from their summer holidays to thump Wakanda Warriors 9-1 to take the top spot, with Jack Jephcott putting down a marker for the rest of the season in the Golden Boot stakes, smashing in five goals. His teammate, Lubomir Ondo almost matched him, though and notched a hat-trick.
That battle between players could be fun to watch, as could the one for top spot, as Out Of Luck clearly were not, and saw off Hot Shots 5-0.
In the top division, which has been running for almost a full season, LaytonsBarbers tightened their grip on the title they’d already won, beating The Beanas 5-0. That puts them seven points clear with just two games left, meaning they’ll be in the prize draw for the big prizes next month.
The two bottom sides took the eye and laid down a marker for the future, as they both won 7-0, against Bearbacks FC and Son Of Pitches respectively.
There are a couple of weeks to go in this season in Redditch, and if you want to join the best league in the town on the first team pitch, then you can do that here: https://www.leisureleagues.net/league/redditch-united-fc/redditch-sunday
