A community football league in Dunstable has proved so popular that the organisers are further extending it.
Leisure Leagues – Europe’s largest providers of 5 and 6 a side football – have been inundated with teams wanting to join the league and have responded to the phenomenal demand by booking more pitch time so they can add more teams.
The newly enhanced competition is adding its new teams in time for the new season and this means over 50 more players can be accommodated.
League Manager Matt Allton said the company is looking forward to the new league kicking off and paid tribute to everyone in the area: “The fact we are in a position to start the new division really is down to the hard work of the referees and staff there, not to mention the commitment of all the players.
“We are used to leagues becoming part of the community, but we have been genuinely taken aback by the appetite for football that the people of Dunstable show and we are delighted that we are able to help them by staging this league.”

“We would very much like to thank everyone at Creasey Park Community Football Centre for all their help in allowing us to set up this extra league, the facilities there are really first class and we are delighted that we can make even more use of them.”
Profits from the league will be donated to charities and good causes, with Matt explaining: “Our leagues are community based and we are delighted to be the only league provider to plough its profits back for the benefit of that community.”
