With the highly anticipated 6-a-side World Cup set to commence in just two days, England’s co-manager Arjun Jung expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness and shared his ambitions for the tournament. Speaking ahead of their opening match, Jung highlighted the team’s strong preparation and emphasised their determination to claim the coveted title.
“The squad is looking good and rearing to go! We have a few new additions as well as a fitter and more dynamic Dean McDonald and Ahmed Abdulla,” Jung exclaimed, highlighting the team’s positive evolution. “Our players seem very keen to constantly learn, which has made the sessions a lot easier to run, and we are gelling really well as a team as a result.”
Jung, who shares managerial responsibilities with Henry Muggeridge, made it clear that their primary objective remains unchanged – to win the World Cup. “The aim, with myself and Henry in charge, will not ever change, and that’s to win it,” he affirmed. “We always go into every game with the tactics to go and win it and not fear any team in front of us.”
Acknowledging the reputation of their competitors, Jung recognised the high level of competition that awaits England in the tournament. “We know that Germany doesn’t do things half-heartedly, so we expect a really well-run tournament,” he acknowledged. “We are, as well as the boys, really looking forward to it.”
The 6-a-side World Cup, featuring players from throughout the Leisure Leagues Network and beyond, is set to be the biggest tournament to date. Countries from around the globe aspire to follow in the footsteps of Brazil, who emerged victorious in the 2022 edition, aiming to secure their own moment of glory.
England’s (pictured above in 2022) campaign kicks off on Saturday evening, and fans can keep track of their progress through the Socca Website.
